When it comes to foreign supermarkets, what matters most is variety. I don't know about you, but I don't want to go to three different stores when I throw my famous Mountain Dew, Nachos, and Red Wine parties. Until you've tried it, don't judge. In that respect, one supermarket sends all of the others packing. That supermarket is Summit, and unless you just arrived in Suzhou yesterday, you've heard of it.
Located on Jinji Hu Road, between the cross-streets of Xing Han Street and Xing Hai Street, Summit's location couldn't be better; unless, of course, you live far away from there. There is parking available, and it's right next to a bus stop. When you walk in, you see a couple of checkout lanes, a bakery, and a wide selection of snacks, beer, and hard alcohol. Not bad, you think. Then you walk downstairs and realize that you haven't even seen 20% of it yet. They have a butcher's counter, a multitude of clean, fresh, vegetables, an intense variety of spices, and a million other forms of foreign decadence. The selection of goods here is really impressive; if you like wine, search no further. Summit's wine room is huge, and there is a taste here for any palate. It has an incredible variety of hundreds of different bottles of wine from all over the world.
From Cheetos to frozen fruit to imported beer, Summit has it. I picked up some avocados, cream cheese, and Jalapeno peppers, and I found the prices to be very reasonable. Impeccably clean with helpful and friendly staff, acceptance of foreign credit cards, and acceptance of your rude attitude (Yeah, I'm talking to you. Turn it down a notch.), Summit is the place. Finally, finding foreign goods is no longer a hopeless endeavor.
