About Us

MORE Suzhou magazine is the only independent English language magazine circulated in Suzhou. The magazine is freely distributed and is entirely funded by advertising.

Our first issue will be released October 2006. Finally, there is a magazine that has centered itself on Suzhou with particular emphasis on where to go, what to eat and what to see. It will become an invaluable tool for people visiting Suzhou as well as those of us living here. We still keep our light-hearted, all-inclusive tone that we set out with. This is the whole point of the magazine: By providing up-to-date information about what’s on in Suzhou, we have created a community. And by listing venues with up-beat and honest descriptions, both readers and venues have come to trust us, which has in turn strengthened the community.

We have lots of plans for the future. This website has been up for only a short time, and we hope that many, both here in Suzhou and further a field, will use it frequently, whether before leaving to come here on a business trip or as a tool to find a place or as a forum to chat about life in Suzhou. Aside from the website, as time goes by, we hope to bring you many new ideas and more information about how to enjoy Suzhou. We would like to bring you more views, some news, weekend trip ideas and more. Stay with us and you will see it progress.

If you knew how few people produce MORE magazine, you would probably fall off your chair. There is a little bit of an ‘open-source’ mentality here: While the content, production and sales departments that make up the core of the magazine toil under our driven and tyrannical editor, we have an enormous amount of support from the people around us, some of whom have already left Suzhou. You lot know who you are, and we are forever indebted to you. Thank you.

Without that support, we would not be where we are today. We are hoping that some of you reading this who are new in Suzhou will also wish to take part in our project by helping us keep track of which venues have opened, moved or closed. For some of you who have been here a little longer, organize an event that we can post in the magazine or on the website.

We hope you enjoy this website, and we hope you have a chance to pick up MORE magazine. Please let us know if something is wrong, and also occasionally if it is right too!
